The Saint speakeasy in St. Pete is no Saint and that’s what makes it so fun. It’s a speakeasy that plays up their disdain of the Catholic Church so we would not recommend it to the devout. To those who aren’t Catholic or are 100% recovering Catholics, you will enjoy the atmosphere. In fact, those who have left the Catholic faith will understand all the meaning around the symbolism within The Saint Speakeasy.

The Saint is a speakeasy with minimal branding on the exterior door and requires a password for entry (which you can pick up from their website and it rotates weekly). It’s not particularly hidden like The Art of Duplicity in Cape Town or has an opening bookshelf like Aereo Cafe Bar in Playa Del Carmen, as there is an awning outside and you can make reservations on OpenTable.

In keeping with the theme, the entrance is styled as a Catholic Confessional and the password is delivered via a confession. Once our confession was accepted, the confessional opened and we entered The Saint.
The lighting is very red. It’s monochromatic red with some occasional yellow or white lighting to highlight different displays. The decorations are gothic in style with ornate chandeliers and side lamps (and the Sin light up display). Crosses and crucifixes abound. Again, if you are a practicing Catholic, this is not the place for you.

There are some very un-cherubic cherubs making vulgar hand displays while being adorned with sunglasses. There are light displays projected on the floor. For instance, one said “It feels so good to be bad with you.”

In the back room, there is a wall where patrons can contribute their deepest sin. Read at your own risk! There were a lot of creative ideas on the wall.

For drinks, The Saint has a drink dedicated to each of the Seven Deadly Sins (as a reminder, those are Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Green, Sloth, Pride, and Wrath) as well as classic cocktails, wines, Absinthe table side service, and small bites. They have mocktails and non-alcoholic options to those who do not imbibe.
We enjoyed Wrath (Angel’s Envy Bourbon with St. Germain, Benedictine, and Angostura Bitters) and the Midnight Mass Martini (Grey Goose Vodka, Bacardi Cuarto, Borghetti Cafe Espresso Liqueur, Simple Syrup, Espresso Powder, Garnished with Cinnamon Powder) while taking in the ambiance of the speakeasy.

They run daily events and feature a nice happy hour special with 50% off cocktails (food is excluded) from 5-7pm Sunday through Friday). We recommend checking their website to ensure you have the most current information – https://thesaintspeakeasy.com/.
