While much of Lisbon was walking distance from our hotel at Altis Grand Hotel, there were many sights we wanted to see that were just too far to walk. Instead of taking a ride share or a taxi, we decided to take a little private Tuk Tuk tour! We had seen them all over the city when doing our own exploring and they looked fun.

Our Tuk Tuk driver came and picked us up from our hotel and asked what we had seen thus far. He made a custom itinerary to help us see all the sights we had missed to fill in our gaps.

We started off towards the Belem area of Lisbon. Our first stop was at the Jeronimos Monastery. Our driver was able to pull over right in front of the front door and we were able to tour the front facade without issue.

Next stop was Belem Tower. Our driver was able to get us very close to the tower and it was just a quick walk to get some fanatic pictures of the tower as well as the boats along the Tagus river. Next stop was the Monument to the Discoveries. We went to the top for a great view of the monastery as well as Lisbon in general.

We continued on to a small archaeological dig and the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua and the iconic trolleys. We kept climbing the curving streets of Lisbon to a spectator view of Lisbon and the Castle of St. George.

While Tuk Tuk’s are not the most comfortable forms of transportation (and we would never recommend it for people with back or neck issues as they are very bumpy), they are the right tool for the job in Lisbon. They are easy to enter and exit and easy to park, making it the right tool to do a strategic tour of Lisbon when you are tight on time. We had a fun time and would do it again on a return trip to Lisbon.
