Overview
We wanted to find a Cape Town luxury hotel at the Victoria and Alfred (V&A) waterfront near Table Mountain for the first part of our African adventure. The Table Bay is a five-star luxurious hotel located on the V&A waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. We highly recommend Table Bay from its location to their attention to detail. It was the perfect beginning to our African adventure.

Private Transfers
Information including rates and other reviews for the Table Bay can be found here. We started our Cape Town trip via a private hotel transfer. It’s always nice having a private guide to whisk you away in comfort to your hotel! We didn’t use Get Transfer on this trip, (we will be providing a review of the company we did use throughout our five-country tour in Africa soon), but we have often used Get Transfer with good success.
Hotel
With stunning views of the harbor and Table Mountain, this hotel is perfect for anyone from a couple’s getaway to a family vacation as there is so much to do near the property. Being able to see the beautiful sunset over the mountain every night was magical.

A part of the Sun International family, Table Bay is beautifully decorated with a subtle nautical theme with lots of natural light. Hotel amenities include good and fast free WI-FI, gym and pool access, and complimentary breakfast.
Food
The all-you-can-eat complimentary breakfast was fantastic with various options to meet every palate. It included a variety of breads/pastries, fruits, meats, an omelet station (made to order), fresh squeezed juices, and even sushi! The Table Bay culinary team were able to handle a variety of food allergies through custom preparations, reflecting their five-star approach to service. For breakfast, you can either sit outside or inside and both have breathtaking views of Table Mountain.

On the second floor of the lobby, there is access to the connected Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre which is a large three level mall with a large variety of stores. To return to the hotel, your key card is required to gain access. You also need your hotel key to access the elevators.

We really enjoyed the bar located on the main lobby floor. Although it was fairly small for the hotel size and not a lot of seating, the bartenders were terrific, and it was nice getting to know them during our stay. Although they have a drink menu, they are able to craft cocktails to order including the best frozen strawberry daiquiri.

Summary
While being at The Table Bay already felt luxurious, Table Bay has direct access to the V&A Waterfront Harbor, a top Cape Town destination. There are numerous restaurants both of African culture and other country cuisines, bars, shops, and live entertainment all throughout. We enjoyed walking around along the water, trying a variety of new foods and drinks from around Cape Town. Ubers were readily available for trips into other parts of the city including our trip to the Art of Duplicity speakeasy we reviewed. We did several tours throughout the area. See our posts on the wineries of South Africa, the Vineyard Hotel, the Cape of Good Hope, lunch at the wonderful Hari Kitchen, and the cuteness overload at Boulders Beach. Both Viator and Get Your Guide also offer some fantastic tours around the city. Here are some from Viator and here are some from Get Your Guide.

The private pool had plenty of seating for lounging with a hot tub and a small bar in the shade. It was a perfect place for a drink before the cocktail bar opened up for evening drinks.

If you are considering traveling to Cape Town, South Africa, we highly recommend staying at Table Bay. The location is perfect, the staff was terrific, the rooms were lovely with gorgeous views, and the atmosphere was luxurious. We found it the perfect location to explore Cape Town and the larger area.
