During a recent summertime trip to Portland, Oregon, we had the pleasure of staying at The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown, an exquisite hotel ideally located for a sightseeing adventure. First Impressions: The Welcoming Lobby
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that guest satisfaction is a priority at The Royal Sonesta. The carpet at the entrance warmly declared, “Long Live The Guest,” setting the tone for a guest-centric experience. Check-in was seamless, and the staff was friendly and attentive.
The lobby itself exudes charm and sophistication. A cozy sitting area near the elevators features a refreshing water station with fresh lemon slices—a thoughtful touch after a day of travel. Nearby, a portrait of the hotel’s quirky mascot, the Viscount of Portland, adds a unique touch of personality, standing proudly beside a regal stag statue.
Our Luxurious Suite: A Home Away from Home
We opted for one of the hotel’s spacious suites to enjoy a little extra comfort during our stay. The suite’s layout was perfect, featuring a welcoming entrance area, a separate living room with plush wing chairs and a comfortable couch, and a private sleeping area. The thoughtful design provided just the right amount of space for relaxation after a day of exploring the city. The decor combined modern elegance with classic charm, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.
The Living Room: A Place to Unwind
Just off the main lobby, the hotel’s grand living room offered a tranquil retreat. With its elegant fireplace and grand piano, the space invites guests to relax and enjoy the ambiance. Each morning, complimentary coffee service is provided, and we thoroughly enjoyed sipping our first cup of the day in one of the comfy leather chairs by the gas fireplace. It was the perfect way to start our adventures in Portland.
